Rarely do I get to photograph a wedding where I feel like the bride and groom could totally kick my ass. Pat and Taylor are way too nice to ever do that, like seriously some of the nicest people ever, but if there was ever a couple capable of ass-kicking, it would be them. I mean, afterall, they pretty much kick-ass at life. How many more times do you think I can say the words ‘kick’ and ‘ass’ before google flags me as inappropriate?
Anyway, I say all this because Pat and Taylor met while doing competitive weight lifting. They are super dedicated to being fit, and compete regularly. You can absolutely tell that they both have a passion for being healthy, and well, kicking ass at life.
Downtown Fremont Street Las Vegas
Both Pat and Taylor wanted something super unique for engagement photos. They already knew they were having a nighttime wedding, so they also opted for nighttime engagement photos. We chose Downtown Fremont Street as the location because the vibe and culture in that area are both so unique.
A huge draw for taking photos downtown are the amazing street murals all over the place, not to mention all of the great bars nearby for having a drink after a fun photo session (which we may have all done mid-way through our session together).
Tropicana Hotel
We caught back up with Taylor and Pat on their wedding day and met Taylor late in the afternoon in her Tropicana suite while she was prepping for her big night with all of her bridesmaids and family. Amelia C. and Co. were doing a fabulous job on hair and makeup, and everyone was smiling and laughing. When you walk into a bridal suite, you can generally pick up on the mood of the group. Sometimes its pure chaos, but with Taylor the vibe was very chill. Thats how I would describe Taylor, a very chill and easy-going girl. Very fun to hang out with.
We snuck a few bridals in before heading over to the boy’s room for some portraits.
Once we got down to Pat’s room, the vibe was a bit more energetic. You could tell that this day meant so much to Pat, and he was getting dressed and preparing his vows for Taylor. It was so cute to watch. He was nervous, but he didn’t let his nerves get the best of him.
Havana Room
Inside the Tropicana is a hidden gem, the Havana Room. This room is incredibly gorgeous. It has a full bar, and the room itself is rounded, with tables and booths lining the outside allowing all focus to drift to the center of the room where a giant chandelier hangs as the centerpiece of the entire room. The room was adorned with candles EVERYWHERE. The couples’ wedding planner, Emily from Weddings and Events by Emily did an incredible job overseeing and directing the decor, as well as organizing the entire day and making sure all went smoothly and stress-free. Throughout the room were dramatic floral displays provided by the talented Miss Daisy Flowers that really added to the theme and mood of the entire weddingThis is, of course, where the ceremony was held. Directly under this ornate chandelier. It was beautiful.
The ceremony was incredibly emotional. The love that Pat and Taylor have for each other was tangible in those moments, and they came through exceedingly well in the photos. Angie Kelly of Peachy Keen Unions led an incredibly touching ceremony, and it was perfect.
