Reception Ideas For Your Destination Wedding

vegas reception ideas exciting sparkler exit

When you come to Las Vegas to get married, you expect your wedding day will be more fun, more exciting, and way less stressful than if you were to have a traditional wedding ceremony.  However, sometimes you want your wedding day to be a hybrid of Vegas fun, as well as traditional pomp and circumstance.  That’s when having a reception in Vegas comes into play.

So you have a bunch of friends and family willing to travel with you on your wedding day (this is amazing and means you’re super loved!), but how do you plan a wedding reception in Vegas and still have it feel very, well, ‘Vegas’?

Here are a few tips to ensure you have the best destination wedding reception in town!

Ship Your Party Favors Beforehand

If you have a wedding planner or day-of coordinator, consider shipping any decor or party favors beforehand so you don’t have to travel with everything.  If you don’t have a helper for your wedding day, call your hotel concierge and check to see if they’re able to receive shipments to hold for you until you get into town!

There’s always the option of traveling with your decor and party favors, but if you have the ability and option to ship them beforehand, this can be one less priority you can check off your list while traveling.

Consider Hiring a Day-Of Coordinator

Speaking of wedding planners and/or day-of coordinators, if you’re planning on having both a ceremony and reception in Vegas, consider hiring a day-of coordinator.  Day-of coordination is great for Vegas because it’s the perfect amount of help for the day, whereas the idea of hiring a wedding planner for your entire wedding and planning timeline may seem like overkill to you.  A day-of coordinator may be the best solution and we’ll ensure that your wedding reception flows seamlessly.

Have Surprise Entertainment for Your Guests During Dinner

Vegas never sleeps, so obviously you want your reception to be poppin’ all night long.  A key to making sure you have a high-energy party that can last into the wee hours of the morning is keeping your guests entertained.  Luckily, you’re coming to the entertainment capital of the world where we have a plethora of entertainers on hand ready and willing to entertain!

PLUS, if you haven’t been sure how to incorporate the ‘Vegas mentality’ into your wedding, having a surprise reception entertainer may be the way to do it without feeling overly cheesy.

And don’t feel like you need to have Elvis come perform (although lets be real, we have lots of Elvis’ and they’re all fun), we’ve got all sorts of performers from wedding bands to Lady Gaga impersonators (and yes, even the King of Pop himself)

Late Night Snacks

Another great way to keep your guests fueled and engaged through the end of your reception is by offering late-night snacks to everyone.  Food keeps everyone happy, amiright?!

Talk to your caterer about having some tasty finger foods available after a few hours of dancing.  Your guests will love you for it.

Keep the Toasts Short

Of course, your guests are going to have a million wonderful things they’re going to want to say about you.  They’re going to want to tell some of the most meaningful stories about their relationships with you and share what makes them love you most with everyone.  Sadly, the overall attention span of reception goers is pretty short.  Try limiting all toasts to 2 minutes, and give your guests the opportunity to share at other times (like brunch, or the rehearsal dinner).  Make sure to prepare all of your loved ones who may want to speak at the reception and let them know that you’d like a time limit on all of the speeches while also offering them another opportunity to share more at a different time.
