I don’t even know where to start with this amazing wedding day culminating in the most fun reception at Hard Rock Cafe! Steph & Anthony came all the way from Australia which normally would mean an intimate elopement, since they travelled from so far away. But I could instantly tell how loved they were because they had a full wedding party and guest count that would equal an entire wedding, and not an elopement.
We met at the Aria, and I instantly knew this was a fun crowd. They’d just finished their ceremony and were out in front of the hotel waiting for their limo. It really felt like wherever they went was a party. They were the party. Anthony wasted no time clowning around while waiting for the limo:
El Dorado Canyon
Once the limo arrived, we all made our way out to Nelson’s Ghost Town (aka Techatticup Mine or El Dorado Canyon) for some truly unique wedding photos. I say this all the time to couples but I truly love this place and its one of my favorite locations to shoot! The atmosphere is awesome, and the owners are so nice. Its an adventure too because you’re always watching for rattlesnakes and cactus. So much cactus!
This was the perfect time to whip out the drone for some arial shots:
Downtown Fremont Street
When we were thoroughly cactus’d out, we headed back into town to Downtown Fremont East. Vegas is an interesting town. Its still in its infancy as far as age is concerned, and sometimes it can be hard to find history and culture here. Downtown is where its at. All of the old and iconic hotels are located downtown, and it also happens to be the site of a current art movement. Its actually my art obsession, and luckily for us Vegans (Vegans as in Las Vegans…..I still eat meat) downtown is quickly becoming a world-renown location for some incredibly gorgeous street art. We leveraged all the murals and came out with some really eclectic photos.
Hard Rock Cafe
Once nighttime fell upon us, it was time to head to the reception. The room that Steph and Anthony had chosen as their reception site within Hard Rock Cafe was full of rock memorabilia from a jacket worn by Elvis to wedding photos of Frank Sinatra, if anyone was in doubt that this was a truly Vegas wedding they had no more room to talk once we arrived in this perfect reception room. My favorite part? The wedding cake located directly below a pair of Cher’s leggings.
Its was absolutely a party, and what kicked it off was a shot of vodka that everyone was required to take, including all the vendors present in the room. Its a tough job, wedding photography, but someone has to do it.
A few highlights from the night, the incredible dip the couple did during their first dance, and the absolutely perfect speech from the maid of honor, who also happens to be the bride’s sister.
